Quality Engineer II

Location: Las Vegas, NV, United States

Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer ensures that the company provides products and services that meet or exceed customer expectations through the deployment and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System. The engineer will put in place a system to measure the organization’s performance and then report on its findings, liaising with managers and staff, and coordinating procedures to address any deficiencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Developing, implementing, and improving the Quality Management System.
  • In conjunction with the Project Managers, Engineers, and customers, develop Inspection Test Plans for every order.
  • Maintain the Inspection Test Plans and ensure Nikkiso’s compliance
  • Be the subject matter expert and oversee Regulatory Standards, coordinating with Engineering, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
  • Review all Manufactures Data Report books to ensure ITP requirements are all incorporated.
  • User Root Cause Analysis in troubleshooting problems or quality issues related to products or processes.
  • Maintaining and controlling calibration records for test and inspection equipment.
  • Participate in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process related issues
  • Assist Quality Control Manager and Quality Director to ensure targeted compliance objectives are achieved.
  • Maintains product quality by ensuring quality assurance policies and procedures in compliant with current ISO standards.
  • Report and manage non-conformances in the data base, assisting with and ensuring resolution.
  • Assist Quality Manager and Quality Director with Internal Audits of the Quality Management System and processes.
  • Ensure that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing and/or Industrial
  • 2+ years’ experience in a Quality, Analyst, or Engineer role within a manufacturing environment. Will also consider recent graduate.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Sound mathematical and technical skills.
  • Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to think logically and methodically.
  • Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of IECEx, ATEX, ISO 9001, AA, ASME. ASTM, API, AMS, EN, IEEE, standards a plus.
  • Decision making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Knowledge of statistial packages and Root Cause Analysis systems normally required.
  • Previous exposure to a machine shop, foundry, or sheet metal shop a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing and safety compliance processes.

Work Environmental and Physical Demands:

  • In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls
  • Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include week days, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. may be required.
  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply
  • Candidates will be required to show a driving abstract with a clean driving history for travel between the NCI facility locations and client offices as required. A valid driver’s license is necessary.

Environmental Safety requirements

  • New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees.
  • General Safety Awareness
  • Job specific training modules deemed necessary by pertaining Manager or Director
  • All safety related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Director

Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as and when needed. PPE’s include, safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats & dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso Cryo safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, including and up to termination.
