Surveyor, Project Expeditor

Location: Busan, South Gyeongsang, Korea, Republic Of

Department: Project Management

Office: Busan (South Korea)

Summary/Objective
The Project and Quality Control Coordinator oversees the execution and quality control of various projects fabricated predominantly in South Korea and as needed or as available in China, India, and other global fabrication locations. This role coordinates with the Nikkiso ACD’s Project Management and Quality Management to spearhead successful project fabrication/completion. The Project and Quality Control Coordinators reports directly to Nikkiso ACD’s Director of Project Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fabrication schedule control and coordination with Nikkiso ACD’s project management;
  • Validation of the claimed change orders and expenditures by fabricators during the product manufacturing;
  • Quality control on the Nikkiso ACD’s projects fabricated and tested in Korea, possibly China and other global locations
  • Inspection of the products in accordance with Nikkiso ACD P&ID’s and Engineering Drawings and Quality Documentation
  • Assurance that fabricators use Nikkiso ACD approved engineering design, testing procedures, inspection, and test plans;
  • Verification of the fabricator quality control capabilities, production capabilities, equipment calibration;
  • Witnessing of the product testing at the fabricator’s location;
  • Verification and inspection of welded connections, Non-Destructive-Test reports;
  • Verification and inspection of the suppliers purchased material and equipment;
  • Verification of the valves position pre pressure test;
  • Re-inspection of the material and equipment supplied by Nikkiso ACD to the fabricators (e.g., valves, accumulators);
  • Documenting all equipment serial numbers and other traceable information;
  • Coordination with maritime class societies on any issues that appear during the fabrication, and coordination with Nikkiso ACD Project Management and Quality Management;
  • Weekly project meetings with fabricators and Nikkiso ACD Team;
  • Supplier management on behalf of ACD and enforcement of communication matrix (Report to Nikkiso ACD Team if there is direct negotiation between supplier and the enduser or Nikkiso ACD’s customer);
  • Communicate with Nikkiso ACD Project Management and Quality Management if any risk appears during the fabrication that could jeopardize schedule and quality of the product;
  • Obtain unpriced copies of POs from subcontractors when that is required, communicate the delivery dates with Nikkiso ACD’s Project Team and follow up on the schedule;
  • Review of the documentation, Manufacturing Data Books, and certifications during the pre-FAT and FATs;
  • Support with defining Weld Procedures and Weld Maps when needed;
  • Support Nikkiso ACD with Inspection and Test Planning when needed;
  • Review of the fabricators Inspection and Test Plans or Manufacturing Inspection and Test Plans;
  • Weekly/or Monthly project status report preparation and submittal to Nikkiso ACD;
  • Support with identification and evaluation of potential, new, fabricators;
  • Occasional meeting attendance and translations when needed;
  • Travel to various fabrication locations globally when necessary and available;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and at the fabricators’ locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. It also uses standard inspection and quality control tools, and safety equipment when travels on job-sites.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • College degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within pressure vessel and oil and gas industry;
  • Familiarity with IGC and international maritime regulations;
  • Knowledge of ASME section VIII and section IX codes and knowledge of pressure vessels is required;
  • Experience as an Inspection or quality technician/specialist in pressure vessels;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings and weld symbols;
  • Strong root-cause analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Good English language skill, writing and verbal communication;
